Classes, Courses & Events

Whether you are a novice, an oenophile or hospitality professional, Crystal Palate will help take your wine knowledge to the next level through weekly wine tastings, immersive wine classes, sensory events, WSET courses (see schedule below) and a meet the winemaker series.

Reservations are required for all of our classes & events with the exception of our weekly tastings on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You have two opportunities each week to taste through our theme for the week. Our weekly educational tastings are $10 per person. Buy any two bottles in the shoppe and receive a complimentary tasting. Club members always receive complimentary tastings. Please note our weekly tasting hours are from 5pm-7pm on Wednesdays and 4pm-6pm on Saturdays.

Wines of Australia Tasting & Fundraiser
Join us for a special tasting this week featuring wines from Australia.
We'll be donating all tasting fees plus 10% of sales from the tasting to
wildfire relief efforts.

Get to Know Nebbiolo
Join us this week for a trip to Piedmont, Italy. We will do a comparative
 tasting of 4 wines made from the Nebbiolo grap. We'll kick things off with
a Vino Spumante Rose, then we'll head to Langhe for an everyday Nebbiolo,
then we're pulling out two age-worthy beauties from Barbaresco & Boca!
Tasting: $10 General Admission/Complimentary for Members

Calibrate Your Palate w/Crystal Palate 
Join Sommelier Crystal Cameron-Schaad around the farmhouse table for this intimate and interactive session. You will have an opportunity to taste through 6 wines and experience how sweet and salty foods impact each wine. You will walk away with a better understanding of the structure of each wine and why pairings really do matter.  Seating is limited to 9 guests.

Wine, Cheese & Chocolate Tasting 
Join us for a special wine, cheese and chocolate tasting on Valentine's Day.
No date? No problem! Bring a friend. Bring a neighbor. Or, let us be your date
for this special interactive tasting experience. We'll kick things off with decadent wine and cheese pairings. Then you will have an opportunity to make your own chocolate bar! The Royal Chocolate will be on hand to help you make your own custom candy bar with belgian chocolate and an assortment of delicious toppings. We'll also have dessert wines to pair with your masterpiece!

WSET Level 1 (One Day Class + Exam)

This class covers the main types of wine, the most common grape varieties, wine service, storing and serving wine, tasting technique, how to describe the smell and taste of wine, and the basics of pairing food and wine. During the class, students taste eight different wines. At the end of the day, students take a 45-minute, multiple choice exam. Those who pass the exam receive the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

WSET Level 2 (5 Week Class + Exam)

The aim of the course is to focus on the key grape varieties and regions of the world, as well as principal varieties of spirits. While the course provides an overview of the wines and spirits of the world, including main wine grapes and regions, it also covers factors affecting wine quality and style, grape growing, and basic winemaking practices. The course emphasizes tasting assessment and the skills required to describe the aromas and tastes of wine. It helps to develop fundamental tasting and assessment skills. During each session of the class, students taste 8-9 wines. The exam takes 1 hour and consists of 50 multiple choice questions. Those who pass the exam receive the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits, an internationally recognized credential in the wine industry.

The course fee includes the 5 classes at Crystal Palate Wine & Gourmet; PDF copies of the class lectures; the WSET course book, study guide, and guide to the systematic approach to tasting wine; practice quizzes; 40 different wines; and the exam at Crystal Palate Wine & Gourmet.
